Random Thoughts – Teen Wolf
Posted: June 29, 2012 Filed under: Random Leave a comment »Admittedly this post has absolutely nothing to do with MegaBracket, but it’s a sports movie to calm the f’ down. I have seen Teen Wolf numerous times and every time I watch it I’m left with the same lingering question. Wouldn’t Teen Wolf be a better track star than a basketball player, hell a running back or a even a gunner on special teams for the Beavers? What about a werewolf screams, “Hell yes I’m going to drop a quadruple double on your ass the first time I step on the court? Not one damn thing I tell you! I have seen a wolf run really fast and tackle shit it’s trying to kill, but I’ve never seen one cross somebody over then throw down a dunk with his armpits above the rim. Let me present this first item of evidence What a real wolf does. Now for a quick look at a few things a wolf would not do as well Really??? Not only is Scott Howard aka the Wolf now a basketball god, but he looks like this guy….
I’m think the people in wardrobe just glued some more hair to Michael J Fox’s face and said what the hell we’re working on a movie about a werewolf who plays basketball. Don’t even get my started on Styles or this These waves are mine.
That’s all the venting I will do for now. I’ll save my ripping of Twister for another day, in the meantime let me know if there are any movies you love but absolutely drive you nuts…Please no porn.
Friday’s MegaLinks
Posted: June 29, 2012 Filed under: MB 2013, MegaLinks | Tags: IFL, John Deere Classic, Mike Tomczak, Patrick Swayze, PBR 1 Comment »To paraphrase Paul Harvey, “Good Morning MegaBracketeers, it’s Friday!” What better way to get ready for the weekend than a (not necessarily) heaping helping of MB links? OK, OK, perhaps a beverage would enhance the morning. However, if you are at work and can’t imbibe, take a swig of MB and feel the buzz of random minor league football awesomeness. (Kudos to the IFL Website for adding frequent updates. The other events coming up – not so much.)
- IFL MVP and Coach of the Year Announced
- To no one’s surprise, the MVP (for the 3rd time in the league’s 4 seasons) is Chris Dixon of the Sioux Falls Storm
- The Green Bay Blizzard’s Robert Fuller won the COY for the 2nd straight season, earning the honor in 2011 as head man of the Fairbanks Grizzlies
- IFL Conference Final Previews
- Keep Tabs on the IFL Weekend Action
- John Deere Classic
- An early sneak peek at some of the golfers expected for the John Deere Classic, MB 2013’s first golf event, coming in 2 weeks
- In PGA events, everyone picks a team of 5 golfers. The scores for the golfers are added up and compared with everyone else in MB (and also in any leagues in which you are a member). Points are awarded based on finish (1st = 80 points, 2nd = 72, 3rd = 64 and so on down to 8 points for 10th)
- TPC Deere Run
- The site of the John Deere Classic and a course once played by your author as well as two other MegaBracketeers and Mike Tomczak’s nephew

Wednesday’s MegaLinks
Posted: June 27, 2012 Filed under: MB 2013, MegaLinks | Tags: APFL, College Football, Foxtel Cup, IBL, IFL, IWFL Leave a comment »A look at what’s happening in the MegaBracket world this morning…
- IFL Individual Awards Announced
- Sioux Falls QB Chris Dixon headlines the awards, earning his 3rd Offensive Player of the Year Award in 4 seasons
- The league MVP and Coach of the Year will be announced on Thursday
- IFL’s Conference Semifinals Rapid Reaction
- Sioux Falls set league records for points a game, a half (63), and a quarter (35) during their 79-21 blitzing of Lehigh Valley
- The Wichita Wild knocked off the Allen Wrangles thanks to a 54-yard FG by James Chandler with 18 seconds left
- IWFL Playoff Brackets
- IWFL official brackets are out. Game times have been confirmed so the pick deadline is officially Saturday @ 10:00 am CDT as previously expected.
- IBL Playoffs Coming Next Week
- Tournament on July 5, 6 & 8 – no official word on the website for how many teams (last year was 6)
- Regular season ends July 3 so it will be a quick turnaround to the playoffs. The picks page will be available as soon as possible on July 3 with the deadline being tip off of the first game on July 5
- APFL’s Sioux City Bandits are Ready for the Playoffs
- The defending champs will open the APFL playoffs on July 8 against either the Mid-Missouri Outlaws or the Kansas Koyotes
- Changes Likely for the 2013 Foxtel Cup
- The second-tier competition for Australian rules football may change from 16 to 8 teams and move from Saturdays to Tuesdays to minimize the disruption to league schedules running concurrently
- College Football Playoff
- Not a current or upcoming MB event, but obviously big news in the sports world today. With as much as we at MB love college football, it seemed newsworthy. But, seeing as how this is still MB, it lands 7th, right after Australian rules football.

Random Thoughts
Posted: June 25, 2012 Filed under: Random Leave a comment »This may or may not be a weekly post depending on how the creative juices flow and my liver holds up. I’ve been told my mind races at times like a hamster running on a wheel (watch?v=O8B8PSeOagc&feature=related). No time was more apparent than a certain time at a certain church that had a mural on the wall that looked kind of like a ripped Ned Flanders sans the stache (see above) . Needless to say I immediately got diarrhea of the mouth and said a few inappropriate things that should have gotten me struck by lightning (watch?v=PhAzLlSZFcc). Anyways let’s try and steer this thing back towards MegaBracket and maybe even some sports, no promises. Like any fine writer any thing I put to paper interwebz will have a life of its own with no clear direction until I run out of things to ramble about.
Which brings me to the second event in MB13, the independent Women’s Football League. While searching their website for hotties research, I discovered a link with information for starting my own team for the low low price of $4350. Check that it has been discounted to $2750 and you can start a Tier III team for $950. At that sort of discount can you really afford not to throw your hat in the ring for the 2013 season? I already have my team name and mascot picked out, the Frytown Penguins (see pic below). And if you have time check out the IWFL… http://www.iwflsports.com/theiwfl/start/

More on the UIFL
Posted: June 21, 2012 Filed under: Getting to Know... | Tags: Beef, Crack, Titans Leave a comment »I’m operating that under the impression that no one in MB has seen a UIFL game. So I thought I’d track down some highlights while doing the crack research that helped lead me to the MB12 title (hold your applause please).Sioux Falls Storm v. Cedar Rapids Titans Seeing that I live about 15 minutes from the CR Titans Mecca I may have to do a live MB remote at some point in time.
And then my research led me to this…Crack, It’s a hell of a drug! I imagine the owners meeting for the UIFL next year will go something like this:
“Where’s the Beef?”….awkward pause….then every remaining team splits the $157.37 in revenue from the previous year while Paul the Octopus selects the schedule for the next year. Who the hell is Paul the Octopus you ask? This Guy.
